Dr. Michael O'Shea | The Familiar Faces of Our Staff

Dr. Michael O’Shea

Dr. and Martina O'Shea

Born and raised on the east side of Detroit, Michael O’Shea moved to suburban Philadelphia at age 15. He attended a Jesuit University, the University of Scranton, played catcher on the Scranton Royals baseball team, and graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 1975.

Dr. O’Shea earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Georgetown University in 1981. Immediately after Dental School, he received three additional years of specialized training in Restorative Dentistry: General Dentistry Residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Topeka, KS, and then completed a Fixed-Removable Prosthodontic Residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Following residency training, he served as full-time Assistant Professor at Georgetown University Dental School’s Department of Removable Prosthodontics from 1984-1987. Dr. O’Shea is presently a part-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the Howard University School of Dentistry in Washington, D.C.

Dr. O’Shea has spent most of his professional career in the Washington, D.C. metro region, and has been in private practice since 1988 at Skyline Plaza in Falls Church, Virginia. Dr. O’Shea has been recognized by his peers in Washingtonian Magazine’s periodic recognition of Top Dentists in metro D.C. in 1997, 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2011. He was also recognized in the newer publication, Northern Virginia Magazine, in 2006, 2009 and 2011, as one of the Best Dentists in America in that publication’s inaugural edition. Dr. O’Shea is a member of the American Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society, D.C. Dental Society and Alexandria Dental Society.

When he’s not treating patients or teaching, Dr. O’Shea is often found playing golf or following the baseball team that he bonded with as a young boy - the Detroit Tigers.  His best quality time is spent at home with his wife, Martina, and their friends or keeping up with their families. He also enjoys reading history and biography and listening to music, often Irish music.

Expert Care--Before, During and After Treatment

Our reputation for providing exceptional care starts at the front desk with our devoted and highly-experienced staff. Our patients tell us that our level of organization and teamwork enhances their overall experience. We help them schedule appointments with other specialists, if necessary, and assist patients with the follow up with other offices. We are also reliable and efficient in optimizing patients’ insurance benefits and handling requests from insurance companies. For each of us on the team, these services are all part of our goal of providing excellent patient care from the first visit through to the completion of treatment.
